running & endurance Expert
British author and journalist who embeds in the world's great running cultures — Kenyan, Japanese, and the ultra scene — and reports what he finds. His work offers insight, perspective, and inspiration rather than training prescriptions.
Running Author & Journalist
Adharanand Finn is a British author, journalist, and podcaster who writes about running from the inside. Born in 1974 and based in Devon, England, he is a longtime contributor to The Guardian and also writes for the Financial Times, the Independent, Runner's World, and others. His running books are works of immersive, first-person reporting: "Running with the Kenyans" (2012), for which he moved his family to Iten, Kenya, and which was named the Sunday Times Sports Book of the Year; "The Way of the Runner" (2014), a journey into Japan's obsessive ekiden culture; and "The Rise of the Ultra Runners" (2019), on the world of ultra-endurance racing, shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year. He also hosts the podcast "The Way of the Runner." His lens is anthropological rather than prescriptive — he reports how different cultures live and train, surfacing insight, perspective, and inspiration rather than training plans.
